We love pumpkins🎃! They are versatile, they come in fun shapes and colors and best of all they are fun to bake with! Join us and learn from our Baker, Courtney to make your own pumpkin cake!

For this class participants will:

🎃 Play a trivia game about pumpkins and pumpkin products
🎃Watch a demonstration on how to make pumpkin cake

🎃Watch a demo on how to make cinnamon buttercream frosting

🎃Watch a video on pumpkin baked goods

Preserving the Harvest Class

Click here to get your tickets now for the upcoming `Preserving the Harvest Class `led by Bethany from Massachusetts Avenue Project!

On the agenda is pickling corn, peppers and cucumbers; canning peaches; and a demo on canning tomatoes, all in our Hertel Store Community Cafe. Learning to preserve fruits and veggies will not only extend the shelf-life of your local summer produce but will also help stretch your grocery budget!

Included in the cost of the ticket:

  • Make and take home your own jars of pickled local produce

  • Recipes to take home

  • Light Co-op fare and refreshments

Bethany is the Kitchen Manager at the Massachusetts Avenue Project, an urban farm and food justice nonprofit on Buffalo's West Side. She considers herself a "sustainatarian" and is passionate about using local and seasonal food as much as possible as well as reducing food waste through the use of creative recipes. She also loves to forage for edible mushrooms and other wild foods.

Bike To Work Breakfast

Join us and GObike on Friday, the 14th for a FREE Bike to Work Breakfast. We’ll have breakfast foods and coffee and best of all, community! We will also have GObike’s High Gear coffee to taste that you can purchase at both stores. Proceeds from coffee sales will go to support GObike Buffalo's initiatives.

These efforts Include:

  • Recycle-A-Bike: Local students learn basic bike mechanics and build their own bikes

  • Sisters Cycling: Working with refugee women to ride confidently and maintain their own bikes

  • Youth Bike Giveaway: GObike's annual effort to donate more than 300 bikes to kids in need

  • Open Shop: Allowing members to fix their bikes with GObike Buffalo's tools and guidance

  • Bike Rodeo: Teaching kids how to ride

  • Mobile Repair:  GObike Buffalo teams go into neighborhoods and fix anyone’s bike for free

High Gear Coffee is roasted by 716 Ministries and is a blend of Ethiopian and Colombian beans. It has notes of brown sugar, apple and grapefruit.
