Acknowledging Indigenous People’s Day
Honoring Indigenous Peoples' Day: Recognizing Native Communities and Contributions
October 14 is Indigenous Peoples' Day, a time to recognize and honor the rich cultures, traditions, and contributions of Indigenous communities across the United States. It’s also a day to reflect on the challenges Native people continue to face and to raise awareness about the importance of supporting Indigenous rights and counteracting anti-Indigenous discrimination.
As a Co-op located on Haudenosaunee (hoe-dee-no-SHOW-nee) land, we acknowledge the deep, enduring connection that the Haudenosaunee, or "People of the Longhouse," have to this region. Their contributions to the stewardship of the land and their influence on democratic principles continue to shape the fabric of our community today.
