GMO Labeling UPDATE March 2016
Updated March 16, 2016
If you want GMO labeling, contact your Senators now!
The Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act passed the House of Representatives in July. It will go to a vote in the Senate this week. If signed into law, it would:
- Block GMO labeling by establishing barriers to a national mandatory labeling system.
- Undermine the public will by nullifying GMO labeling laws passed in Vermont, Connecticut and Maine.
- Preempt states from passing future GMO labeling laws. Organizations opposing this bill dubbed it the DARK (āDenying Americans the Right-to-Knowā) Act. We agree this bill would deny Americans the right to know whether GMOs are in our food.
